Friday: Oncology Massage & Acupressure

In this class, you will gain the skills and confidence to work effectively with clients who are undergoing cancer treatment. This introductory course in Oncology Massage will cover myths, facts, contraindications and adaptations to massage for cancer patients. You will learn about the most common complaints of cancer patients and the research showing how massage can help with these; common side effects of chemotherapy and how to adjust massage to these conditions; and how to adapt massage techniques, pacing, frequency and positioning to maximize client comfort during massage. This course offers you, additionally, a basic sequence of Acupressure points you can incorporate into your massage to address the most common complaints of cancer patients.

This class satisfies the prerequisite for the Integrate Chinese Medicine into Massage Therapy Certification Program. 

Saturday: Discover Chinese Meridian Acupressure

In this introduction to Chinese Meridian Acupressure, explore the locations and healing functions -- physically, emotionally and spiritually -- of each of the 12 Organ Meridians. Develop and East-West bodywork blend by learning potent Acupressure points along each Meridian to clear Chi Constraint, known as tension, and by applying Acupressure sequences to restore Meridian balance. In this class, you will establish your foundational knowledge in the Chinese approach to healing, develop your sensitivity to Chi, and discover how to regulate Meridian Chi flow to ensure optimal health for your client. No prior knowledge of Chinese Acupressure is required for this class.

This class satisfies the prerequisite for the Integrate Chinese Medicine into Massage Therapy Certification Program.
