Live Webinar 1

Live Webinar 1

We are using Zoom as the platform for our webinars at this time. This will allow you to see the instructor and any powerpoint or other documents that the instructor might share throughout the webinar. Participants are required to participate for credit by asking questions or making comments at appropriate times during the class.

The night before the webinar, participants will be emailed the meeting ID and password. We will have a waiting room for the webinar and we encourage people to log into the webinar up to 15 minutes early and hang out in the waiting room to ensure you connect in time for the webinar.

When the webinar starts, the instructor will mute all participants sound to eliminate any background noise that might exist. When you want to speak, there is a "raise your hand" button at the bottom of your screen, just click on that and the instructor will unmute you to speak. When you're done speaking, you will go back on mute again. An hour before the end of the webinar, participants will be emailed a class evaluation.  When the class ends, please fill it out immediately. When we see that you've completed your evaluation, we will email you your certificate. If you do not have a certificate within 24 hours of completing your evaluation, please let us know.

Recommendations:

  • We strongly recommend that you use a device with a broadband/cable link for the best connectivity to the webinar, especially if you are in a more rural area where wifi is poorer. However, wifi works for most people.
  • We strongly recommend that you use a desktop or laptop to connect to Zoom. Generally, laptops have built in cameras and microphones which you can use. With desktops, you often need to have a camera that you install on your monitor for someone to see you and a headset microphone to speak, they generally don't come built in. If you are on a desktop or laptop and you don't have one or either capability (built in camera and/or mic), you can call in on your phone in order to hear and speak to be able to participate in the class and use your laptop/desktop to watch the presentation.
  • Because this is a 4-hour class we strongly recommend that you don't try to watch the webinar and listen in on your phone, unless it's your only choice.

Accessing Zoom:

There are several different ways to do this.

Well before the webinar begins, if you want to check out your hardware and connection to make sure it all works, you can go to http://zoom.us/test and join a test webinar to make sure everything is working the way it should -- the instructions are at: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115002262083-Joining-a-test-meeting if you any questions.

This is pretty easy software, once you click on "join a meeting" and enter you meeting ID and password, you should be able to enter without issues and once the webinar starts the instructor will walk you through the controls. If you are a technophobe, or are just having problems either understanding our instructions or something isn't working, contact me and I can set up a test meeting with the two of us and see what we can do to make things work correctly. The other option is to take a look at the tutorials on the zoom website, they are quite useful and they have something for just about everything.
