ZZZZZG.) Highlights of Thai Massage (Seattle November 11, 2018)

Product Description

Instructor: Kay Rynerson, LMT, RTT; NCBTMB 450656-08

Thai massage, a 2500-year-old tradition of bodywork done on a mat on the floor with the recipient fully clothed, addresses the body in four positions: supine, side-lying, prone and seated. In this workshop we will explore the highlights of a full-body Thai session, learning prone, supine, sidelying and seated techniques. Although some point work using your thumbs is necessary, the emphasis will be on using your feet, elbows, palms and knees. Essential to Thai massage are point work, compressions and thorough, effective stretches for every part of the body.

Somewhat physically demanding, Thai massage requires you to be comfortable sitting on your feet with your legs folded under you. Painful joints of any kind are obstacles to doing this work.

You will take home a handout describing the 90-minute routine in text and photos, so note taking will not be necessary. You are free to use your own camera as well during the show-and-tell.

What to Bring: Set of sheets, bedroom-style pillow, kneeling mat or knee pads (if you use them), and loose, comfortable/stretchy clothing. Warm layers including socks are advised. If you have a Thai mat, please bring it. For those that do not have a thai mat, one will be provided for you.
