T.) Heartspire "Deep Tissue Hawaiian Style (General Body)" & "LomiLomi Head, Neck & Upper Torso": Both Classes (Olympia March 3-4, 2018)

Product Description

Instructor: Kim Hartley, LMT; NCBTMB #450029-06

About Heartspire Classes: Each Heartspire class stands alone allowing you to develop skills to call upon to create a profound bodywork session. Infused in each Heartspire class are foundational Hawaiian Healing Principles and the metaphysical story that are a part of what makes Hawaiian bodywork a unique approach to massage. Unless otherwise indicated, no prior lomilomi experience is required.

Saturday--Heartspire Lomi Loku -- Deep Tissue Hawaiian Style (General Body): In this class you will learn the art of listening down to the bones with lomi loku, a soft and deep approach that allows the body to guide you in through a series of deep tissue strokes that address the spine, sacrum, and hips in the prone position. Then we will bring the body into supine position and teach the technique of bone washing used with the limbs. Bone washing starts proximal to distal and seeks to follow the bones with a gentle yet deep scrubbing and traction technique that free up the muscle attachments and opens the limbs to easier ROM.

This class opens the door and offers an opportunity to learn at an introductory level some concepts of deep tissue work from the traditional Hawaiian healing arts perspective of lomilomi. You will be able to immediately apply these strokes into your massage sessions and have your clients enjoy the benefits of deep release while feeling listened to within their body without resistance or bracing.

Sunday--LomiLomi Yoke and Royal Crown: Head, Neck & Upper Torso: In this class we will explore the lomilomi approach to the sacred mantle or yoke of responsibility where the upper shoulders, clavicle, upper chest and neck meet the crown which is the head and face. The bodywork includes the flow of the ocean wave, R.O.M. of the neck and shoulders, deep and circular compression sequences along the sutures of the skull and face, along with gentle kneading lomilomi strokes and rhythmic pin and stretch sequences along the T.V.P.’s of the neck. Releasing the shouldered burdens we carry allows freedom and alignment to occur in the Crown and Sacred Yoke. In addition, you will learn foundational Hawaiian Healing Principles that are a part of what makes Hawaiian bodywork a unique approach to massage.
