ZZZG.) Advanced Intraoral Work (Seattle April 14-15, 2018)

Product Description

Instructor: Lauren Christman, LMT and Richard Polishuk, LMT; NCBTMB #450788-08

Take your intraoral skills further with this 2-day class! These techniques are especially effective for TMJ dysfunction, migraines, chronic sinus congestion and trauma to the face. In this class, therapists will:

  • expand their treatment of suprahyoids, hard palate and the TMJ
  • treat the deepest layers in the anterior neck, face, and jaw, including the tongue and mandibular ligaments
  • assess and balance the facial bones and the cranial base

Class begins with a review of intraoral basics: treating the myofascia associated with the mandible and anterior neck. Next, learn how to work with the deepest fascial layers of the anterior neck and tongue, the ligaments that suspend the mandible and hyoid, the TMJ capsule, and bones of the face. Internal assessment methods for the TMJ, mandibular position, and cranial base will be covered, along with a treatment sequence for decompressing the facial bones and sutures. Learn to treat myofascial imbalances as well as problems involving the alignment of the face and cranial base.

The manual technique is gentle, specific and highly effective, allowing therapists to work with people who have recent trauma or acute pain. The instructors have a wide background in structural, cranial and orthopedic methods, and are committed to bridging with various learning styles and individual backgrounds. Enrollment is limited to ensure a good student-teacher ratio and there is ample in-class exchange time.

Prerequisite: License to practice intraoral work. Those therapists who have had previous intraoral classwork, but are not licensed to practice intraoral work may attend class with prior approval. Please call 206.853.6875 for approval. If you have already had intraoral training but do not have your endorsement, you may obtain it by taking this class.

What to Bring: Bottom sheet, pillow or bolster, and blanket. Wear loose clothing. All supplies used in the class will be provided (gloves, finger cots, etc.).
