Worforce is a Washington State Agency that regulates adult vocational education. Classes that are longer than three days or that are serial in nature where a student is required to take one class before they can take another (e.g. Geriatic Massage I and Geriatic Massage II) are regulated by Workforce. The Therapeutic Training Center is licensed under Chapter 28C.10. What are the state and NCBTMB CE requirements for renewal?
NCTBTMB Recertification. Please note, according to NCBTMB's criteria, LMPs can submit coursework from non-NCBTMB Instructors for credit.

  • NCBTMB: The NCBTMB CE requirements can be found at the following link,
  • WA Board of Massage: The WA State Department of Health's criteria can be found at the following link, WA Board of Massage--FAQs.

    • The changes to the law can be found at: Changes to WAC 246-830-475.
    • How the new law is being implemented was detailed in an email announcement on 6/5/09 to the MASSAGEBRD@LISTSERV.WA.GOV, from Kris Waidely, Program Manager for the Board of Massage. The email reads:

"Your licensing requirement for continuing education as a licensed massage practitioner is changing. It will rise from 16 hours to 24 hours every two years. Four hours must be in professional ethics, communication, and/or Washington state massage laws and regulations. Two of these hours must include professional roles and boundaries.

The new rules go into effect on June 7 of this year. However, we will not apply the new requirement for license renewals until 2012.

We wanted to let you know about this well in advance so that you could plan to get the best education possible.

If your continuing education is due in 2009, 2010, or 2011, you need to complete 16 hours for the appropriate, two-year reporting period. Starting in 2012, the requirement rises to 24 hours. This would apply to the 2010-2012 reporting period."
    • To receive information like this, please go to, Board of Massage Interested Parties LIst to register to recieve informative emails about changes that affect LMPs.

What do I do for food and/or lodging?
Each of the locations, listed below, indicate nearby food and lodging options. These do not reflect all choices. If you use a restaurant or motel/hotel not listed and have a good experience, please let us know.

Where are the classroom locations?
Since its inception, the Therapeutic Training Center has been renting space for its classes. It has been our goal to have the Therapeutic Training Center moved into its own facility by the beginning of Fall 2009. While the hunt for space has been going on for a long time, it has been very difficult to find the right mix of attributes, so it is taking longer than anticipated to find just the right facility.

While we continue to look for space to use as a full-time facility, we are still continuing to rent classroom space. Because we need to be ready to move into a full-time facility generally within 0-60 days of signing a lease, we are posting class locations only 3-4 weeks in advance of the class. Currently, all classes are held in Seattle (Wallingford, U-District, Northgate and Lake City), unless otherwise indicated. We apologize for any convenience this may cause, if you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 206.853.6875 or email us at info@theratraining.com.

Below are the current classrooms being used, each indicates address, directions and provides options for food and lodging. When classroom locations are posted, the class detail page will have the location number listed which is a link to the detail. Just click on the location and it will take you to the location detail. If the location says "Seattle", the location has not been posted yet and will be posted 3-4 weeks prior to class starting.

Walk past the bathrooms and the entrance to the room is on the left.

If you happen to get dropped off, or take the bus, walk past the very visible red "Fondi Pizzeria" window awning, past the inset corner of the building and immediately around the corner is an entrance way with "East" etched into the glass.
