The Therapeutic Training Center is the brainchild of Robbin Blake, a massage therapist, certified Aston Patterner and graduate of the Brian Utting School of Massage. It grew from Robbin's recognition that when students of any manual therapy profession complete their initial training and begin working with patients, they embark on a lifetime of learning.
Your Home for Professional Development
In particular, the early years of practice often involve a steep learning curve. Our first post-graduation experiences with patients can rapidly improve our manual skills.
But unless we work in a group environment that provides mentoring, we're generally on our own to figure out how to solve patient issues, run our businesses and take care of ourselves as professionals.
The Therapeutic Training Center aims to change this by offering manual therapists a home for professional development.
Our Mission
The mission of the Center is to educate and support manual therapists so they can thrive in their chosen field.
- Continuing education. Currently, we serve the varied needs and interests of beginning and veteran practitioners in massage therapy. During 2010, the Therapeutic Training Center will add classes and services for physical therapists, occupational therapists and other practitioners of manual therapy disciplines. We strive to support you in your goals, whether they are to fulfill your state or professional association requirements, rejuvenate your passion for your work, shore up your fundamental skills or explore new modalities.
- Business refresher classes. In addition to being therapists, many of us are also business owners--proprietors of our own practices or clinics. For some of us, the schools we attended didn't emphasize the business skills we need to complement our therapeutic competencies. The Center will provide classes to help therapists run their practices more effectively. These classes will run from full 7-24 hour classes offered over weekends to 2-4 hour classes held during weekday afternoons and evenings.
