Bove, Geoffrey
R.) Pain, Nociception, and Nerves (Seattle June 29-30, 2013)

There is a world-wide initiative in all realms of health care to learn more about pain. This is not surprising, since pain is the most common complaint for which patients see therapists. Manual therapists have direct access to and therefore can interact with the peripheral nervous system and the pain system. Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral nervous system is paramount to pinpointing the source of symptoms, and consequently, directing care. In this course, pain and nociception will be presented in a diagnostic context. Practitioners completing this course will be able to recognize various types of pain, locate the source of symptoms, and better design their treatments.
