The Series: "The Feldenkrais Method® and Massage" is a four-part series. Optimal movement describes a way of moving that is unique to our individual selves in specific situations. Ideally, we're moving with the highest level of efficiency for our structures, our tables, our particular type of massage and clients. Often though, we develop movement patterns that hinder our efficiency. These are challenging to detect, as our nervous systems adapt to the patterns. Our eyes seek the horizon, and adapt our bodies to the situation! Massage therapists have challenging work as it is; if you add a movement bias, such as a limp pattern, your entire structure is affected.

This series is designed to look at basic but essential movement patterns and how they relate to the practice of massage. The Feldenkrais Method® is experiential in nature; in each workshop, you'll be doing up to three movement lessons. Your nervous system will get the opportunity to revisit movement that you first learned years back -- essentially, you get to rediscover yourself with this somatic journey.

This Class: Where do the arms really begin their movement? Connecting movement from the arms to the torso is extremely valuable for massage therapists. In this workshop you'll experience three movement lessons that specifically address how we move through the shoulder girdles and the trunk

Come away with a new understanding of your own movement as well as tools under your belt to explore this more in depth!

What to Bring: some form of 'cushy' mat such as a blanket (as in any kind of blanket/mat that will encourage easy movement, but not mats like yoga mats that hinder movement); Extra layers of clothing for warmth, which allow easy movement.
