We often think of side-lying work as primarily for pregnant women, but almost all of your clients can benefit from skilled side-lying work in this area--it's effective, and it feels great. Unlike working the shoulder from a prone or supine position, the humerus can move freely, which allows you to fully work around the gleno-humeral joint, while providing much needed mobility to the joint.
You will learn specific, potent, and effective Deep Tissue techniques to release the paraspinal muscles (erector spinae and transversospinalis) and quadratus lumborum in the back, and the muscles and around the shoulder girdle (trapezius, rhomboids, latissimus dorsi, serratus anterior, levator scapula, subscapularis, supraspinatus, and pectoralis minor). These straightforward, muscle-specific Deep Tissue techniques can be immediately applied in practice. Body mechanics will also be a focus of this class, as well as proper use of fingers and elbows to save wear and tear on joints.

For many therapists, Deep Tissue is an important part of their tool box. Pull these tools out again and revitalize and refresh your technique. This class focuses on your client's back and shoulders while sidelying.
