The chest is often overlooked as a primary contributor to back and shoulder issues, and is the source of our breath and our taking in of life. Learn and review simple but powerful methods to release the diaphragm, sternum, ribcage, and anterior shoulder girdle. These techniques can assist your clients in breathing more deeply with less effort. Come prepared to go a little deeper, and to push and explore your edges a bit.
For each structure, several Deep Tissue techniques will be provided to give you multiple treatment choices when working with your clients. These are straightforward, muscle-specific techniques that can be immediately applied in practice. We will also focus on proper use of fingers, knuckles, and elbows for optimal results and to save wear and tear on joints.
What to Bring: Set of sheets, pillow case, pillow; wear loose clothing. Working with a breast drape or through the sheet works somewhat, but a thin (not wide) sports bra or something small, like a bathing suit top, actually works better for sternum and lower rib work. Bras or bathing suits that have underwires or stiff panels, have a wide bridge across the sternum, have slippery-shiny polyester that slides across the sternum, are tight or that are unduly obstructive do not work well.
